Microtasking refers to the process of splitting a large data-processing job into small tasks that can easily be distributed and completed on the internet. Common microtasking jobs include collecting emails from public profiles or correctly identifying audio messages.

While many Kenyans have the ability and resources to complete these online tasks, it is difficult for American-based microtasking companies to navigate international financing regulations. Given the logistical difficulties, Kenyans are not able to earn wages from these microtasking companies.
