When Enactus at Cal was still just a dream in the makings, Wheely’s Cafe, an international bicycle coffee cart chain, donated an older model of their cart to our club for use in one of our future projects.
To inspire and teach neighborhood middle school age children, our team is creating an after school program to teach business and personal finance skills. We are in the process of creating an after school curriculum with four separate modules, which would meet 1 – 2 hours per week after school. The after school program would initially be taught by our Enactus members and eventually we hope to start a club on campus who will continue the legacy of teaching these students.
The Enactus students spent the fall semester devising this plan and formulating a business proposal, creating the curriculum, and deciding which age group they will be targeting. At the end of the program we intend on using the cart as the incentive to create a competition where a winning student will run the cart on campus.
